U.S. EPA-Office of Research and Development

Dynamac provides onsite support to EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) at three of its major laboratories: (1) the National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (NHEERL), which is located at both Corvallis, Oregon (surface water, forestry, and agroecosystems) and Newport, Oregon (marine and coastal zone); (2) the National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) at Ada, Oklahoma (groundwater and remediation technology); and (3) the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) in Cincinnati, Ohio.

At NHEERL, Dynamac scientists have been engaged since the mid-1990s in aquatic, riparian, terrestrial, marine, and wetland ecology studies, as well as analytical chemistry and health and safety services. One of our longer-term projects for ORD NHEERL is our support for the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP). This work requires expertise in analytical chemistry, stream surveys, characterization of riparian vegetation conditions, and the establishment of stream reference conditions. Dynamac chemists typically analyze over 10,000 plant, soil, litter, sediment, fish tissue, and algae samples per year. Our scientists also perform more than 15,000 individual analyses on approximately 1,000 surface freshwater and groundwater samples annually.

For more than 15 years, Dynamac has provided NRMRL with a wide array of scientific research, modeling, technology transfer, and technical support activities related to the investigation and remediation of contaminated ground water. Furthermore, Dynamac has provided technical assistance at approximately 1,000 contaminated sites in all 10 EPA regions. Dynamac also develops and delivers training programs to EPA regional staff and state regulatory staff on technical topics. We are transitioning the training program to an Internet-based platform, beginning with a groundwater investigation course.  Dynamac has gained national recognition for our expertise in groundwater remediation, modeling, bioremediation, natural attenuation, and remediation optimization.

Under a new contract at NERL, Dynamac is supporting the Ecological Exposure Research Division with sample collection and analysis; methods development and testing; statistical, geographical, and data management; QA/QC; technology transfer and reporting requirements; and operation of an aquatic research facility.
